Hello, my name is Christina HadleyDike Roosevelt, and I am a Creator Artist. I love experimenting with new techniques and technologies in the industry of sewing and crafting. I have a background in costumes and have worked all around this country at many different theatres. As we all know right now the industry of live entertainment is struggling and I desire to inspire more people to be creative in their own life. Being able to continue creating, during this time, can help relieve the everyday stressors. I strive to learn new ideas and skills as well as continue to create for myself so that I can stay inspired and bring a smile to others during this crazy time.
One of the first things I did during the COVID lock-down was enter into the #badass Women Makers and Engineers Contest. This competition was to create a simple life hack using Arduino or Raspberry Pi. I built a cycling shrug with an Arduino board, flex sensors, buttons wires and Individually programmable neo pixel LED’s. Placing in the top ten of the #badass Women Makers worldwide competition was inspiring to me. I had a wonderful time building and creating the garment as well as the organizing and producing the how-to video of my final product. After completing this competition, I started thinking about continuing my many different dreams, ideas, and projects in a similar way. I enjoy refining the build and sharing the step by step instructions with other creators. I revel in the opportunity of inspiring others to create and build their dreams into existence.
Creativity, positivity, experimentation, and everyday inspiration are extremely important to me. I love to share my knowledge and background. I enjoy teaching and inspiring others around me as well as to learn and be inspired by others. Design concepts can come from anywhere and I strive to always be on the hurt for the next inspiration. Being a self-directed learner I love testing out new techniques both in the world of costuming and for my personal enjoyment. I indulge in taking risks because I find the process challenging and producing the final result extremely rewarding. I challenge myself for my own satisfaction and for the art, beauty and emotional response I create.
