Have you ever wanted to tea-dye lace trim to match whatever you are making a little bit better? Hi, I’m Christina, and today I am super excited to be t dyeing my lace for my bloomers. I decided to make my bloomers out of just some muslin, and the only lace that I could find was stark white. I knew that I could try it down to match my muslin just a little bit more. So, without further ado, let’s gather our materials and get t dyeing.

It’s time to start Tea Dye lace trim

So I’m going to take out my two tea bags and put them in a bowl and add some hot water. This will help start getting that pigment out into the water so that we can dye these fun little pieces of lace. Before I actually dye the full pieces of lace, I’m going to want to test it.

I’m going to cut off two pieces of this lace to test how long to leave the lace in the water. Before you actually dye your real pieces of lace, you want to take the tea bags out. Start the timer when you put the test pieces in because you want to know how long it’s in there.

The longer you leave it in, the darker they will get. You want to make sure that you know how long you left in your test pieces. Make sure to take notes, so you can make sure that you don’t leave in your real pieces for too long or too short.

You can always go back and put the pieces back in the water a little bit more to darken up. Removing color is not as easy. I always try to lean towards the lighter side There they are.

Tea Dyeing Lace Trim lengths

I’m going to put in my first set of lace and mix it around. I want to make sure that the tea pigment is even and spread throughout the water. Make sure that the lace is nice and submerged. Mixed around and everything and begin the timer, I will let it sit for about 2 minutes based on my testers.

Once you have completed the time, rinse the lace. While you are rinsing some of the colors will rinse out so it is good to be slightly darker than you desire. Again, this is where the testing really comes in handy. Make sure you rinse it until the water is running clear. Once you are happy and the water is rinsing clear take a look and make sure that it’s about the color you want it.

Now it is time to dry. There are two main options on how to dry. One is to let it air dry and the other is to put the piece in the dryer. Make sure you know how the garment will be laundered while choosing the best way to dry the piece of lace.

Finishing Touches

That is how easy it is to tea dye lace trim so that it matches a muslin color or anything. If you left it in the tie a little bit longer, you can get it nice and dark.
